11 years ago today, tragedy hit part of the oklahoma metropolitan area, Killing 24 and and injuring 212. It was also the last EF-5 tornado as of May 20 2024, with winds of 210 mph, for reference, ef-5 winds can destroy your house and sweep the foundation clean.

The tornado went through a failed occlusion (cooler air wrapping around the back of the tornado but failing to cut off the warm air) causing a weird loop in it's track

The tornado caused an estimated $2 billion in damage, and reached a max width of 1,900 yds.

After the tornado, moore had to rebuild for a 2nd time (since the 1999 bridge creek-moore tornado) 11 years later, it has rebuilt and transformed into the moore we know today

Today the spc issued a rare HIGH RISK of severe weather in central oklahoma and southern kansas. This is a 5/5 threat, as bad as it gets. I'm not gonna get into the complex meteorology of it but i will show a random frame of one of the convective allowing models i'm looking at

Each one of those beans inside the red circle is a supercell, the kind or rotating storm that produces most tornadoes. Now, this isn't 100% accurate representation of what's happening, but pay attention to the amount of supercells there are. It warrants the high risk. Also this is an all hazards threat, In the words of the spc:

A regional outbreak of severe weather with multiple intense (EF3+),
   long-tracked tornadoes, as well as very large hail and severe
   thunderstorm gusts, is expected over parts of the south-central
   Plains from this afternoon through evening.

Pretty scary wording from the spc as this type of wording for higher end events.

if you are in any of the highlighted areas, go to Weather.gov for the forecast and immediately heed any warnings issued by the nws. Playing around with storms on days like today is playing around with your life.
