AMERICAAAAAAAAAA + Update + THE CONE 🗣️🔥

AMERICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

*GUNSHOT NOISES*

If you somehow didn't know, today was america's independence day, or as i call it, just america day. Gonna be honest, kinda forgot about this holiday, since it hasn't really been very big celebration where i am since 2016 when they put restrictions on the fireworks. This year tho, i'm somewhere different, so i got to see quite a lot of fireworks. I also fulfilled my duty as a red, white, and blue blooded american to almost get lit on fire by an unfortunate amount of fireworks, along with everyone else. nice. The people here have been setting of fireworks since 5 pm (for whatever reason) and still haven't stopped at 11 pm... actually crazy. You gotta wonder, how does one get their hands on so many fireworks? that's gotta be like truckloads or something...

Anyway, i know nobody really cares about america day for the history, only the fireworks, so i hope you got to see some cool ones today. I also pray for those who have to get up early...

Update

As you may know, i've been posting quite a lot recently. So i thought, you know what would be a good idea? a nice break. Yeah, i think you've had enough of me, and i've had enough of writing these news posts for at least decent while. I've been neglecting some other obligations since i've been spending a lot of time musicing and arting. i mean for god's sake, i haven't seen wintin in over a week! unacceptable. i don't think i've gone this long without him in years.

I fear that if i keep neglecting him like this he'll lose his will to live n shit...

So yeah, I'll let someone else blow up your feed lmao.

It won't be too long, but just long enough for me to make a post about it.

now, time for my favorite part...

THE CONE 🗣️🔥

everyone, meet Tropical Depression 3. (TD 3), and maybe, by the time your reading this, Tropical Storm Chantal.

iu_1424642_9133341.webp

It's a small storm, not very intense by any means but still definitely a threat, and one that can mess up your weekend plans.

Right now, it has winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and it's currently forecast to peak at an intensity of 45 mph (70 kph) in about a day, off the coast of the carolinas. Like i said, not record breaking or anything, but still, probably good to know about.

Since this storm is expected to move inland, the hurricane center has issued tropical storm watches for the SC coastline, (which you can see reflected here in THE CONE 🗣️🔥)

iu_1424643_9133341.webp

A tropical storm watch means tropical storm conditions (winds of 39-73 mph, or 62-117 kph) are possible within the next 48 hours. If this intensifies further, those will probably switch to tropical storm warnings, meaning tropical storm conditions are expected within 48 hours.

So basically, the main takeaways should be: (courtesy of the hurricane center)

1. Tropical storm conditions are possible in the watch area

beginning Saturday and continuing through Sunday morning.

2. Heavy rainfall across the coastal Carolinas will cause some flash

flooding concerns from Tropical Depression Three between Saturday

through Monday. Isolated to scattered flash flooding could occur

within more urbanized areas along the coastal plain of the

Carolinas.

3. The system is expected to bring rough surf and rip currents to

much of southeastern United States north of northeastern

Florida during the next couple of days.

What do i think?

I think you should use this as a good excuse to sit inside and do nothing all day lmao. If you don't gotta leave, just don't.

It's the perfect day to sit in your mother's basement and play fortnite all day or something. And they can't say you're being lazy. Even better.

Also, stay tuned to the weather, like honestly just having a weather app on your phone is good enough. Let's say a flash flood warning comes through, you'd probably wanna know that (especially if you're in that basement playing fortnite)

Basically any weather app will send you a notification when a new alert is issued. So i'd just choose anything that ISN'T ACCUWEATHER. (maybe i'll get into why later...)

Additionally, if you're extra paranoid, you can get a NOAA weather radio, they scream at you when something bad is going on. it's like having a fire alarm, but for weather. You see how that could be useful?

Just don't let me find out you were the guy who went "i didn't know" because i will STRANGLE-

Also, If you want to read more about this storm, including all the stuff i didn't include because i can only type but for so long, head over to this website

...

Anyway, that's all. Now if you'll excuse me, i have a date with my bed (im tired lmao)

Remember to worship THE CONE 🗣️🔥 and have a good rest of your day/night :]

I don't like fireworks. I hope they are banned everywhere.

Tropical cyclone track uncertainties are different for each storm. The notion of having a cone solely based on historical errors is not helpful in my opinion, although this is how every major forecasting agencies present it. A really innovative idea would be to have a "dynamical cone" that is generated by ensembles (https://www.easterlywave.com/media/typhoon/ensemble/2025070506/03L.png), with the forecast track laid over it. Then you would see the actual strike probabilities and the forecast track would not necessarily be near the middle. This would be especially helpful to convey forecast uncertainties when there are several possible scenarios, say one group has a northwesterly track, another group takes a storm to the NE.

Same goes for tropical storm wind probabilities. At present the graphics are generated based on forecast wind radii and historical errors.
