An extremely large and violent tornado just went through the town of Waterloo IA. This prompted the NWS to issue a TORNADO EMERGENCY, which means an extremely large and violent tornado is headed towards a population center:
The last tornado emergency was issue for the Nashville, where an EF2 occured last year on the 9th of december.
A tornado emergency is the highest level of tornado warning, and is rarely issued by the NWS.

I took my dog for a walk today, when the wind started picking up, and it got cold, because there was a storm nearby. What i didn't expect was for it to start snowing outside, then it mixed with rain and hail, all while the sun was still out. Basically both me and my dog got hailed on. The dog is fine but confused. I share to show that it doesn't have to be below freezing to snow, just very cold and windy above

today is the 50th anniversary of the 1974 super outbreak. 335 people died, with the strongest tornado having winds up to 305 mph, which almost got it rated an f-6, which doesn't exist. it had 148 tornadoes, making it the one of if not the most expansive tornado outbreak.
